Google Offers Free One-Year AI Pro Subscriptions to College Students
Promotion waives standard $200 annual fee for US college students and includes 5TB cloud storage
Google has a new promotion that gives students a full year of its AI Pro subscription for free. This typically costs $200 per year, or $20 a month, and the offer is available to eligible college students in the US.
As the name of the subscription suggests, this is primarily an AI-focused offering. Subscribers get quadruple the usage limits in Gemini, access to the Spark agentic platform and Gemini integration within Workspace apps like Gmail and Docs.
Beyond AI toolsets, the promotional tier includes 5TB of cloud storage alongside a subscription to Google Health Premium, which connects with Fitbit hardware and health tracking tools. To qualify for the US offer, students must verify higher education status through third-party verification provider SheerID before claiming the 12-month offer.
Alongside the free standalone tier, Google is selling a discounted bundle that includes access to both AI Pro and YouTube Premium for $9 per month, allowing access to ad-free video and music streaming. The promotion automatically renews at the standard full price after one year, requiring users to actively cancel before the 12-month billing period concludes to avoid recurring charges.
For students outside of the US, Google is offering a year of Google AI Plus for free. That subscription normally costs $5 per month and provides access to Gemini Omni, double the standard usage limits on the chatbot, and 400GB of cloud storage. Additional details on student eligibility and regional rollouts are published on Google’s official updates page.
