Samsung Sets July Date for Galaxy Unpacked Event in London
The tech giant is expected to unveil a redesigned Galaxy Z Fold 8 and next-generation smartwatches.
Samsung has officially scheduled its next Galaxy Unpacked event for July 22, 2026. Hosted live in London, the presentation is set to begin at 9 AM ET. Following the launch of the flagship Galaxy S26 series earlier this year, this mid-year showcase traditionally focuses on the company’s expanding ecosystem of foldable devices and wearable technology.
Industry analysts anticipate a significant design shift for the Galaxy Z Fold 8. Rumors suggest Samsung may introduce a “wide” aspect ratio, departing from the narrow cover screen of previous generations to a more passport-like form factor. This move aligns with broader industry trends toward improving media consumption on foldable displays. Alongside the standard model, a premium Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is expected to feature enhanced wireless charging capabilities and a more seamless internal display with a reduced crease. The lineup will likely include the Galaxy Flip 8, maintaining the company’s dual-track foldable strategy.
The event is also likely to serve as the debut for the Galaxy Watch 9 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. These devices are rumored to be powered by the Snapdragon Wear Elite chip, reflecting Samsung’s continued partnership with Qualcomm. The Ultra 2 model may specifically target power users with a substantial 800mAh battery, a notable increase over previous iterations. All new mobile devices are expected to utilize updated Snapdragon chips to handle increasingly complex artificial intelligence tasks.
Beyond mobile hardware, Samsung may provide updates on its highly anticipated smartglasses project. Developed in collaboration with Google and eyewear brands Warby Parker and Gentle Monster, the project was first teased during Google I/O 2026. While a full commercial release is not expected until later in the year, the London event offers a platform to showcase the integration of augmented reality into the Samsung ecosystem.
Samsung’s decision to refresh its foldable lineup comes as competition in the segment intensifies. While Samsung pioneered the category with the original Galaxy Fold in 2019, it now faces pressure from global competitors developing their own foldable hardware. The upcoming event will be accessible to a global audience through the Samsung YouTube channel and the company’s official website.
