Lexus RZ 500e Debuts in Bahrain as Luxury EV Competition Intensifies

New 375-hp electric SUV enters Bahraini market.

Ebrahim K. Kanoo, the official Lexus distributor in Bahrain, has introduced the Lexus RZ 500e, a move that signals the brand’s sharpening focus on the kingdom’s growing premium electric vehicle segment. The all-electric SUV enters the market with a starting price of 24,200 Bahraini Dinars, approximately $64,000, positioning it against established European rivals in the luxury crossover category.

The RZ 500e is built on a high-performance platform delivering 375 horsepower. Central to its handling is the DIRECT4 all-wheel-drive system, which Lexus claims optimizes power distribution between the front and rear axles based on driving conditions. This launch coincides with a broader regional shift toward sustainable transport, as highlighted by the International Energy Agency, which notes that while the Middle East has historically been dominated by internal combustion engines, infrastructure investment is now driving a steady increase in EV adoption.

For the Bahraini market, the vehicle includes My Room Mode. This specific feature allows occupants to utilize the car’s climate control and audio systems while the vehicle is connected to a charger, drawing power directly from the external source rather than the battery.

The interior is defined by Ultrasuede upholstery and wood accents, complemented by a panoramic roof and customizable ambient lighting. Safety is managed via the Lexus Safety System+ 3.0, a suite of driver-assistance technologies that Ebrahim K. Kanoo highlighted during the unveiling.

Charging capabilities include support for both DC fast charging and AC charging. The introduction of the RZ 500e follows a series of regional debuts for Lexus as it attempts to capture market share from early movers in the electric luxury space.
