BMW is recalibrating its electric sedan lineup for the 2026 model year, centering the update on a more potent flagship designated as the i4 M60. This new performance tier replaces the outgoing M50, signaling a shift in how the Bavarian automaker categorizes its high-output electric vehicles.

According to specifications released for the 2026 BMW i4, the transition to the M60 badge reflects an effort to align the Gran Coupe with the brand’s larger electric offerings. While the entry-level eDrive40 continues to provide the foundation for the range, the M60 is positioned to deliver the aggressive acceleration and handling characteristics traditionally associated with the BMW Group performance division.

The 2026 i4 retains the flexible CLAR architecture, a platform designed to accommodate both traditional internal combustion engines and battery-electric drivetrains.
