BMW Debuts ‘Neue Klasse’ Era in Dubai with 805km-Range iX3
AGMC marks 50th anniversary with regional premiere of 805km-range electric SUV.

BMW has officially introduced the first member of its ‘Neue Klasse’ generation to the Middle East, unveiling the all-electric iX3 at Dubai’s Museum of the Future. The launch, hosted by long-time UAE importer AGMC, marks a pivot for the German automaker as it moves away from legacy platforms toward a software-defined, electric-first architecture.
The iX3 xDrive50 represents a departure from BMW’s current EV lineup, which has largely relied on adapted internal combustion engine chassis. According to AGMC, which is celebrating its 50th year of partnership with the brand, this model serves as the blueprint for BMW’s future production.
Central to the vehicle’s performance is the sixth-generation eDrive technology. BMW reports the iX3 will offer a range of up to 805 kilometers, supported by an 800-volt battery system capable of 400kW charging. This high-voltage architecture is becoming the benchmark for premium electric vehicles, significantly reducing the downtime required for long-distance travel compared to standard 400-volt systems. The International Energy Agency has noted that improvements in battery density and charging speed remain the primary drivers for consumer adoption in the luxury segment.
The exterior design utilizes a minimalist aesthetic, featuring a reimagined BMW kidney grille with optional ‘Iconic Glow’ lighting. Functional updates include hidden door handles that deploy via the BMW Digital Key Plus, allowing drivers to access the vehicle through a smartphone or smartwatch.
Inside, the cabin is built around the BMW Panoramic iDrive system, which consolidates vehicle controls into a single wide-format interface. This is managed by a central processing unit BMW calls the Heart of Joy, designed to unify driving dynamics and digital functions into a single software stack.
For regional drivers, the iX3 includes a panoramic glass roof with thermal-comfort tinting, a feature AGMC highlighted as essential for maintaining cabin temperatures in the Gulf climate. The vehicle also supports over-the-air software updates, allowing for the remote addition of driving assistance and entertainment features after the initial purchase.
