Sony Sets Nov. 12 Launch and $220 Price for Pulse Elevate Speakers
Pre-orders for the $220 desktop wireless speakers begin September 1.
Sony Interactive Entertainment announced that its Pulse Elevate desktop wireless speakers will officially ship on November 12, carrying a retail price of $220. Pre-orders for the desktop audio system are scheduled to open on September 1 through the official PlayStation Direct storefront as well as authorized third-party retail outlets. The launch timeline arrives roughly one year after the company initially revealed the desktop hardware as part of its ongoing peripheral expansion for the PlayStation ecosystem.
The Pulse Elevate speakers will be distributed in two standard color options: a White model and a Midnight black variant. Both aesthetic configurations mirror the design language established by the base PlayStation 5 console and its associated accessory ecosystem, which includes the DualSense controller and existing Pulse brand audio products.
At the core of the speaker architecture are planar magnetic drivers operating alongside dedicated woofers. Planar magnetic drivers utilize a flat membrane suspended within a magnetic field, a design aimed at reducing harmonic distortion across high, mid, and low frequencies. Sony reported that this driver implementation enables the Pulse Elevate to reproduce audio across the entire audible spectrum with high fidelity, aiming to deliver in-game sound mixes precisely as sound designers intended.
The hardware incorporates support for Tempest 3D AudioTech, Sony’s proprietary spatial audio processing format designed to render directional sound cues in supported titles. Wireless audio transmission relies on PlayStation Link technology, a proprietary low-latency protocol designed to eliminate audio delay during gameplay. Each retail package ships with a bundled PlayStation Link USB-C adapter to allow direct connection with supported devices that do not feature built-in receiver hardware.
Platform compatibility covers multiple systems within and outside the PlayStation family. The Pulse Elevate speakers can connect to PlayStation 5 consoles, the PlayStation Portal remote player, Windows PC systems, and Mac computers. Additionally, the inclusion of standard Bluetooth connectivity allows the units to pair with mobile devices. The system supports multipoint connectivity, enabling simultaneous connection to both a primary gaming source and a secondary Bluetooth audio stream.
For communication, the desktop units feature a built-in microphone array paired with noise-suppression processing. The software filtering is designed to isolate voice input while cutting out ambient background noise during multiplayer voice chat or calls. Structurally, the physical speaker enclosures incorporate an adjustable tilt mechanism, giving users the ability to modify the direct angle of driver dispersion depending on desktop height and seating positions.
User configuration for sound balance and operational settings is integrated directly into connected platforms. Equalizer presets, custom audio profiles, and general device options can be adjusted through dedicated menus on both PlayStation 5 consoles and PC operating environments, removing the need for external management apps during console play.
Sony has withheld several technical specifications ahead of the November release date. Detailed specifications concerning total power output in watts, exact driver physical dimensions, and complete frequency response curves have not been published. While the manufacturer confirmed that the speakers run on internal rechargeable power lasting “hours” per charge, precise battery capacity metrics and recharging timeframes remain undisclosed.
