Sony Outlines PlayStation Plus Cancellation Pathways and Service Retention Rules
Sony offers four subscription cancellation pathways across web, console, and mobile platforms while defining feature retention rules.
Sony Interactive Entertainment provides PlayStation Plus subscribers four distinct digital entry points to terminate recurring membership billing, enforcing strict service restrictions that take effect immediately when an active payment cycle elapses.
Hardware-based cancellation pathways differ between console generations. PlayStation 5 owners terminate recurring charges through system settings by navigating to Users and Accounts, selecting Account, and entering Payment and Subscriptions. PlayStation 4 users access subscription controls under Settings via Account Management and Account Information.
Subscribers seeking web or mobile account management can halt auto-renewal through the main PlayStation portal or smartphone app. Web browser management requires users to sign in at PlayStation.com, access Account Settings via the top-right profile icon, and select Subscription. Mobile operations are handled through the PlayStation Store tab in the official app by opening the top-right options menu and choosing Subscription Management.

Cancelling auto-renewal prevents future account charges while preserving remaining service benefits through the conclusion of the paid term. When the billing period ends, account holders lose access to online multiplayer services, cloud storage backup features, claimed monthly free titles, and the downloadable PlayStation Plus game library.
Purchases made with promotional member discounts, along with acquired avatars and content packs, remain permanently tied to the account. Users who initiate cancellation can reverse the decision prior to the next scheduled billing date by selecting Reactivate Subscription within settings, avoiding the need to submit a new transaction through the PlayStation Store.
