Leaked Specs Reveal Massive Upgrades for Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 Ahead of Launch

A major leak has detailed the specifications of Samsung’s upcoming flagship wearable, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, just days before its official debut at the Galaxy Unpacked event. The latest details, shared by prominent leaker Evan Blass via his Substack newsletter Leakmail, suggest that the South Korean tech giant Samsung is planning significant hardware upgrades to challenge its rivals in the premium smartwatch market.

According to the leaked renders and specifications, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 will feature a chassis that is 12 percent thinner than its predecessor. Despite the slimmer profile, the manufacturer has reportedly managed to pack in a substantially larger battery. The new model is expected to feature an 800 mAh battery, a massive leap from the 590 mAh capacity found in the 2025 Galaxy Watch Ultra. This battery boost could significantly extend the device’s runtime, addressing one of the most common pain points for smartwatch users.

In addition to the battery improvements, the display is set to receive a massive brightness boost. The leak indicates that the screen will reach a peak brightness of up to 5,000 nits, compared to the 3,000 nits of the previous generation. This level of brightness would make the screen exceptionally legible even under direct, harsh sunlight, positioning it as a direct competitor to high-end outdoor sports watches.

Durability is also getting an upgrade. The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 will reportedly carry an IP69K dust- and water-resistance rating, an improvement over the IP68 rating of the prior model. The “K” in the IP69K rating represents protection against high-pressure, high-temperature water jets, making the device far more resilient during intense outdoor activities or water sports.

Under the hood, the flagship smartwatch is rumored to run on Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon Wear Elite chip. This processor is expected to deliver faster performance and better power efficiency. Interestingly, reports suggest that the standard Galaxy Watch 9 will also utilize the same Snapdragon Wear Elite chip, bringing uniform processing power across the new wearable lineup.

While earlier design leaks from Android Headlines gave consumers an initial glimpse of the watch’s aesthetic, these new technical details paint a clearer picture of the product strategy. By focusing on extreme durability, high display visibility, and extended battery life, the company is directly targeting the premium sports watch segment currently dominated by Garmin and Apple’s Ultra series.
