Ozlo Launches Sleepbuds 2 with Upgraded Hardware and Environmental Tracking

Former Bose engineers introduce upgraded sleep earbuds featuring 14-hour battery life, redesigned Bluetooth, and AI-driven health features at $279.

Ozlo, the sleep technology startup launched by former Bose audio engineers, announced the Sleepbuds 2 on Tuesday. Retailing at $279—a 12 percent price adjustment from the first-generation model—the updated earwear introduces improved wireless connectivity, extended battery life, and hardware-level environmental monitoring aimed at helping users overcome sleep disruption.

The product refresh directly addresses technical friction reported by early adopters of the initial model. Ozlo redesigned the internal antenna structure and extender within the Sleepbuds 2 to solve Bluetooth dropouts, offering a stable wireless signal and dedicated hardware controls for faster device pairing. Battery performance has been increased to 14 hours of playback per charge, up from approximately 10 hours on the previous iteration, while the companion charging case stores enough power for up to three nights of continuous usage.

Hardware modifications extend beyond connectivity. Ozlo integrated an internal audio amplifier to enhance passive and active sound masking capability, allowing users to drown out ambient household or city noise. The system now includes tailored audio equalization profiles, such as Spoken Word, Focus, Airplane, and Balanced modes, to optimize sound output depending on the surroundings.

A primary design improvement features a physical control button built directly into the charging case. This addition allows wearers to trigger sleep audio or silence alarms without looking at or interacting with their smartphones. Additionally, a new software feature called Sleep Shield automatically silences incoming cellular calls, notifications, and app alerts unless a smartphone sleep focus mode is already engaged.

Product Hero App Close Up

Ozlo’s founders—N.B. Patil, Brian Mulcahey, and Charlie Taylor—originally established the company after Bose decided to exit the sleep hardware market in 2023. The co-founders, who led Bose’s original program, licensed and acquired the underlying intellectual property to build their startup. Since launching its initial device in late 2024, Ozlo has accumulated over 200,000 active users seeking alternatives to standard noise-canceling headphones like Apple’s AirPods, which are often uncomfortable for side sleepers due to their larger exterior footprint.

The Sleepbuds 2 expand on sleep metric collection by pairing in-ear biometric hardware with environmental diagnostics. Internal sensors in the earbuds track respiratory rates and body movement throughout the night, while sensors embedded inside the smart charging case measure bedroom light levels, ambient noise, and temperature.

The multi-point sensor approach reflects Ozlo’s broader strategic pivot toward becoming an integrated sleep health platform. Earlier this year, executives outlined plans at the Consumer Electronics Show to deploy artificial intelligence models that analyze sleep quality against real-world environmental factors. The company is also engineering an AI-driven conversational assistant designed to help users evaluate personalized biometric trends over time.

The $279 package includes four sizes of silicone ear tips, the smart charging case, and a USB-C charging cable. To coincide with the launch, Ozlo is including a complimentary travel case and sleep mask for early orders.
