Tottenham Prepare £68m Bid for Manchester City Winger Savinho

Spurs look to bolster their attack under Roberto De Zerbi after a disappointing 48-goal campaign

Tottenham Hotspur are intensifying their efforts to rebuild their attacking ranks, preparing a substantial £68m offer to sign Manchester City winger Savinho. The North London club, eager to bounce back from a highly frustrating campaign, has identified the Brazilian international as a priority target to bolster their front line ahead of the new season.

According to football transfer expert Nicolo Schira, Spurs are actively pushing to secure the 22-year-old attacker. In a significant development for the Premier League side, Savinho has reportedly indicated his willingness to join Roberto De Zerbi’s side, agreeing in principle to a five-year contract that includes an option for an additional year.

### A Renewed Pursuit

This is not the first time Tottenham have attempted to lure the talented winger to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Last summer, the club launched a series of bids for the Brazilian, all of which were rejected by Manchester City. Savinho ultimately chose to commit his immediate future to the reigning Premier League champions, signing a contract extension at the Etihad Stadium.

Following that disappointment, Tottenham pivoted to alternative targets. They secured French forward Randal Kolo Muani on a temporary loan deal from Paris Saint-Germain, while also completing a dramatic deadline-day swoop for RB Leipzig’s highly-rated playmaker Xavi Simons. However, those additions did not fully resolve Spurs’ long-term attacking requirements.

### Frustration at the Etihad

Despite staying with Manchester City, regular first-team opportunities have proven elusive for Savinho under Pep Guardiola. The winger made just 14 starts across all competitions last season, with only seven of those coming in the Premier League. This lack of consistent playing time has fueled intense speculation about his future, paving the way for Tottenham to renew their interest.

For Tottenham, the need for a dynamic, goal-threatening presence on the flanks is urgent. The club endured a highly challenging campaign last year; despite finishing inside the top 17, their overall performance was widely regarded as the most disappointing of any side in that bracket. A major factor in their struggles was a lack of cutting edge upfront, with the team registering just 48 league goals over the course of the season.

### Overcoming an Injury Crisis

The club’s offensive options were further depleted by roster changes and a relentless injury crisis. Tottenham sanctioned the departure of Brennan Johnson during the January transfer window, leaving a vacancy on the right wing. Subsequent long-term injuries to summer signing Wilson Odobert and Mohammed Kudus severely restricted the team’s tactical flexibility. To compound matters, Swedish playmaker Dejan Kulusevski faced prolonged spells on the treatment table, leaving the squad desperately short of creative spark.

Under Roberto De Zerbi, Tottenham have emerged as one of the most proactive clubs in the current summer transfer window. Having already secured high-profile reinforcements to solidify their defense and midfield, the hierarchy is now fully focused on the final third.

The Italian tactician’s fluid, high-pressing system demands a direct, pacey, and consistently goal-threatening winger—attributes that Savinho possesses in abundance. Whether Manchester City will accept the proposed £68m fee remains to be seen, but Tottenham’s aggressive approach signals a clear intent to return to the upper echelons of English football.
