MG 07 Challenges Mid-Size Market with 840 km Range and Sub-$27,000 Pricing
New flagship sedan offers 840km range and LiDAR technology.
MG is positioning its new MG 07 sedan as a high-specification challenger in the mid-size market, combining a massive 840 km range with a starting price point that undercuts many global competitors. General Manager Chen Cui confirmed that order books for the vehicle will open on July 29, signaling a new phase in the brand’s aggressive expansion under its parent company, SAIC Motor.
The flagship electric variant is priced at approximately $26,500, a figure that includes an 800V high-voltage system and 5C fast-charging capabilities. For buyers prioritizing entry-level value, the base electric model will start below 150,000 yuan, or roughly $22,100. This entry version utilizes a liquid-state solid-state battery providing a 610 km range, while still maintaining a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor for advanced safety.
Built on the SAIC Nebula platform, the MG 07 measures 4.886 meters in length with a 2.825-meter wheelbase. Beyond its dimensions, the vehicle serves as a mobile showcase for the Momenta R7 intelligent driving platform. Powered by the Xheart X7 computing system, the sedan supports Navigate on Autopilot (NOA) for both highways and urban environments, alongside memory-based automatic parking in complex structures.
The interior focuses on unconventional luxury features. A zero-gravity passenger seat can recline to 130 degrees and includes integrated heating, ventilation, and massage functions. Instead of a standard glovebox, the passenger side features a retractable table with a large mirror. Storage is equally prioritized, with a 168-liter frunk and a rear trunk that expands to 1,563 liters when seats are folded.
A notable addition to the cargo area is a 30-liter integrated fridge located beneath the trunk floor. The unit can reach 0 degrees Celsius within 10 minutes and maintain temperatures between -18 and 15 degrees for up to 24 hours after the vehicle is powered down. The digital experience is managed through an Oppo smart interface running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P processor.
While the electric variants lead the marketing push, a plug-in hybrid version will also be available. This model pairs a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine with two electric motors, achieving a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in 6.5 seconds and an electric-only range of 185 km under WLTC standards.
