Rockstar Games Locks June 25 for GTA VI Pre-Orders, Signaling End to Launch Uncertainty
Rockstar Games sets June 25 for pre-orders as 2026 release date holds firm.
Rockstar Games has confirmed that pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI will commence on June 25, a move that provides the most concrete timeline yet for a project that has faced intense public scrutiny. The announcement, made on June 18, aligns with previous guidance from parent company Take-Two Interactive that marketing efforts would intensify during the summer months.
The developer also unveiled the official cover art, featuring protagonists Jason and Lucia against a backdrop of Leonida—the fictionalized version of Florida that serves as the game’s setting. The artwork, which includes imagery of helicopters, wildlife, and high-performance vehicles, was accompanied by a promotional video and a refresh of the official website showcasing the Vice City skyline.
While the game is currently scheduled for a November 19, 2026, release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, the industry has remained wary of potential shifts. Rockstar has a well-documented history of moving release windows to ensure technical polish, a practice often detailed in filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission regarding projected revenue and product pipelines.
Digital storefronts and selected retailers will handle the pre-order rollout. The move follows months of unverified leaks and retailer placeholders that had fueled speculation among the title’s massive global audience.
Take-Two Interactive executives had previously signaled that the fiscal year 2025 and 2026 would be pivotal for the company’s growth. The confirmation of a pre-order date suggests a level of confidence in the current build of the game, which is set in the sprawling Leonida region, including its busy port areas and waterfront attractions.
