GM eBoost Brake Defect Probe Expands to 1.1M Vehicles After 22 Crashes

Regulators document 745 incident reports and demand answers on braking fail-safe failures

Federal auto safety regulators have widened an investigation into brake-by-wire failures affecting more than 1.1 million General Motors vehicles. The inquiry, now in an expanded phase, follows documentation of 22 crashes and six injuries traced to fractures in a mechanical component within GM’s electronically controlled braking system, marketed as “eBoost.”
