Lenovo Leaks Reveal First ‘Googlebook’ Laptop Built for Google’s Aluminium OS

Lenovo Group Ltd. is developing one of the first laptops built for Google’s unified operating system project, with leaked marketing materials exposing a device designed around direct keyboard access to artificial intelligence tools.

Images published by tech outlet Digital Citizen show the “Lenovo Googlebook 15,” a machine planned for a late-2026 launch that features a dedicated “G” key on the lower-left keyboard layout. The button serves as a direct hardware trigger for Alphabet Inc.’s Gemini chatbot, echoing Microsoft Corp.’s placement of dedicated Copilot keys on recent Windows PCs.

The upcoming laptop runs on “Aluminium OS,” Google’s new platform engineered to merge ChromeOS‘s desktop architecture with native Android application execution. Leaked interface renders reveal a conventional desktop layout paired with a top-mounted status bar derived from modern Android releases.

While target specifications for memory and processing power remain unconfirmed, the hardware layout favors extensive physical connectivity. The 15-inch chassis incorporates two USB-C ports, a full-sized USB-A port, an HDMI output, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The keyboard includes 14 function keys and a dedicated upper-right accessibility button, a layout departure from traditional Chromebook designs.

Google unveiled the Googlebook initiative in May, positioning the hardware standard around agentic AI capabilities and automated task execution rather than raw hardware specifications. Lenovo’s hardware design represents one of the earliest commercial implementations expected to hit the market as Google seeks to expand its footprint in personal computing.
