Google Rebrands NotebookLM as Gemini Notebook and Expands Pro Tier AI Features

Google is bringing its popular AI-powered document analysis tool fully into its main product portfolio, officially renaming NotebookLM as Gemini Notebook. The transition includes a redesigned logo and tighter integration across Google’s suite of intelligence products, alongside expanded access to high-end capabilities previously reserved exclusively for top-tier enterprise accounts.

As part of the update, Google will extend access to Gemini 3.5 and its Antigravity system to Google AI Pro subscribers in the coming weeks. The move allows mid-tier paid users to write and execute code natively while performing complex, multi-layered data analysis inside their research workspaces—features that were previously locked behind the higher-priced AI Ultra tier.

By broadening access to these sophisticated reasoning tools, Google is positioning its workspace suite to compete directly against rival productivity platforms like OpenAI’s ChatGPT Enterprise and Anthropic’s Claude Projects. The ability to perform native code execution and data parsing on custom documents relies on Retrieval-Augmented Generation, a framework that grounds artificial intelligence models on user-provided sources to minimize errors and hallucinations.

Google also confirmed that notebooks created on the platform will soon appear within Google Search’s AI Mode. While specific timeline details have not been released, this conversational search capability will allow users to tap into their saved notebook summaries and notes directly while browsing the web, expanding on functionality already integrated into the standalone Google Gemini application.

Originally introduced in 2023 as an experimental project tailored for students to summarize notes and draft academic reports from uploaded files, the platform maintained standalone usability while rapidly expanding into corporate environments. Google revealed that prior to the rebranding, the tool attracted over 30 million individual users and was adopted by more than 600,000 organizations worldwide.
