Apple Music Raises Subscription Prices Across Europe, US, and UK
Subscription costs rise for Individual, Family, and Student plans due to mounting licensing fees.
Apple has raised its Apple Music subscription prices across several major global markets, including Spain, the wider European Union, the United States, and the United Kingdom. The price adjustments, which are already live on the company’s official website, represent the first price hike for the streaming service since 2022.
According to reports from Music Business Worldwide, Apple attributed the price adjustment to rising content licensing costs. The music licensing landscape has become increasingly complex, with major record labels demanding higher payouts to compensate artists and rights holders, driving up operational expenses for digital platforms.
For users in Spain and the Eurozone, the price adjustments affect all primary tiers. The Individual plan has increased by one euro, moving from €10.99 to €11.99 per month. The Student tier has also gone up by one euro, now costing €6.99 monthly instead of €5.99. Meanwhile, the Family plan has seen the sharpest increase, rising by three euros from €16.99 to €19.99 per month.
These new rates apply immediately to anyone signing up for the service starting today. For existing subscribers, the price hike is expected to take effect during their next billing cycle.
This change marks only the second time Apple has raised the price of its music service since its global launch in 2015. The music streaming industry as a whole has faced similar upward pricing pressure. Competitors like Spotify have also implemented successive price increases over the last few years to offset inflation and satisfy demands from the entertainment industry.
In addition to the standalone music service, US users are seeing price hikes for certain Apple One tiers. Reports from 9to5Mac indicate that the Family and Premium tiers of the all-in-one bundle have become more expensive in the US. These Apple One bundles combine services like iCloud+, Apple TV+, and Apple Arcade. For the time being, Apple One pricing in Spain remains unchanged, with the Individual plan at €19.95, the Family plan at €25.95, and the Premium tier at €34.95 per month.
