Corsair Launches $200 TC80 Gaming Chair Targeting Office and Home Workstations

The TC80 Gaming Chair, now available from Corsair Gaming Inc., is engineered to meet dual international standards for office furniture safety and durability. Priced at $200 in the United States, €180 in the European Union, and £170 in the United Kingdom, the model expands the company’s commercial and home workstation portfolio with a budget-focused seat. It is available immediately through Corsair’s direct-to-consumer online store and authorized third-party retail channels.

Corsair subjected the TC80 to more than 30 separate stress, stability, and durability assessments to verify structural performance across different user body profiles. The testing regimen included a high-impact center drop test dropping a 136-kilogram (300-pound) load directly onto the seat pan, and a seat endurance test comprising 100,000 continuous impact cycles using a 57-kilogram weight.

Based in Fremont, California, the hardware and peripherals manufacturer positioned the TC80 below its mid-range TC100 Relaxed and flagship TC500 Luxe, which launched in the European market at €550. Backrest static load tests applied 1,001 Newtons of sustained force for 60 seconds, alongside separate resistance trials with 13 weighted discs. While premium ergonomic seating—such as the co-branded Herman Miller x Logitech G Embody—frequently retails above $1,500, mainstream PC hardware brands have increasingly developed budget alternatives.

Achieving compliance with both the ANSI/BIFMA X5.1 standard in the United States and the EN 1335 standard in Europe was a key focal point of the TC80’s development. These industry benchmarks govern commercial-grade office furniture, establishing strict requirements for structural integrity, dimensions, and mechanical safety under continuous daily use. Armrest load testing totaled 60,000 cycles at 400 Newtons of downward pressure per armrest, and base swivel endurance testing consisted of 120,000 rotations under a 122-kilogram load, evaluated at both minimum and maximum height elevations.

Mechanically, the TC80 is constructed around a steel five-star base paired with 50mm dual-wheel casters. The seat features a flat, wide cushion profile finished in breathable fabric upholstery rather than synthetic leather, aimed at reducing heat retention during extended sitting sessions. Vertical adjustment is driven by a Class 4 steel gas lift cylinder, providing up to 100mm of travel to accommodate desks of varying heights. Corsair also includes a detachable neck and head pillow to support alternate reclining and working postures. The backrest supports an adjustable recline range between 90 degrees and 115 degrees, with an integrated locking mechanism to secure the user’s selected angle.
