TechCrunch Disrupt 2026 Brings 10,000 Startup and Venture Leaders to San Francisco
San Francisco prepares for TechCrunch’s early-stage startup showcase

SAN FRANCISCO — TechCrunch Disrupt 2026 is scheduled for October 13–15 at San Francisco’s Moscone West, where more than 10,000 founders, venture capitalists, and technology operators are projected to gather for the annual three-day conference. The event arrives at a critical juncture for the technology sector and is positioned as an industry bellwether for early-stage startup valuations, deal-making velocity, and emerging technological paradigms in the post-generative AI deployment era.
The conference’s Startup Battlefield 200 will feature 200 early-stage technology enterprises selected by the publication’s editorial team. The group will include a global cross-section of pre-Series A startups working in software-as-a-service (SaaS), artificial intelligence, climate technology, hardware, and biotechnology.
Venture capital investment strategies have increasingly shifted toward early-stage deals as macroeconomic changes have altered late-stage valuations. At the Startup Battlefield, institutional investors can assess broader market trends, examine operational prototypes, and identify changing patterns in entrepreneurship. The physical exhibition space also allows them to meet founders directly, review live product demonstrations, and evaluate how new technologies intend to address existing market gaps rather than relying only on pitch decks.
Since the startup pitch competition format began, participating alumni have collectively raised more than $32 billion in venture funding. Some later became major public enterprises or high-value acquisitions. The program and its direct predecessors count cloud storage giant Dropbox, communications platform Discord, cybersecurity firm Cloudflare, wearable pioneer Fitbit, personal finance application Mint, and project management tool Trello among their notable historical alumni.
San Francisco’s commercial core has historically used major technology conferences as economic indicators. Convention activity at venues such as Moscone West has played a role in downtown’s structural transition by supporting local hospitality, retail, and corporate engagement. For over a decade and a half, the summit has also operated as a primary networking hub where early-stage startups establish their market presence and connect with institutional capital.
From the 200 companies in the showcase, 20 finalists will advance to the formal Startup Battlefield competition on the main stage. They will present their business models, technical architecture, and market-to-go-to-market strategies to panels of prominent venture capitalists and industry experts. The winning startup will receive the Disrupt Cup and $100,000 in equity-free funding, providing a non-dilutive capital injection for early product development or engineering recruitment.
The live pitches also expose the metrics, defensive moats, and customer acquisition costs that active venture funds currently prioritize. Through rigorous Q&A sessions between founders and main-stage judges, other early-stage operators can observe an educational framework for structuring fundraising narratives in a competitive capital environment.
Organizers are continuing standard logistical and operational milestones ahead of the event. The current early-registration pricing tier is scheduled to expire on September 25 at 11:59 p.m. PT. It offers ticket savings of up to $200, a 50% discount on a second identical ticket type, and group discounts of up to 30% for parties of four or more.
The program’s historical tracking data accompanies the upcoming competition, with alumni outcomes extending from venture-backed startups to major public enterprises and high-value acquisitions. The Startup Battlefield exhibition will continue to focus on pre-Series A companies across sectors including artificial intelligence, climate technology, hardware, biotechnology, and SaaS.
San Francisco continues to anchor the global technology sector, particularly as the primary geography for generative artificial intelligence research and venture funding. The October gathering at Moscone West will serve as a physical benchmark for the health, direction, and commercial viability of the next generation of technology companies.
