Google and NBCUniversal Partner to Include Peacock with YouTube Premium at No Extra Cost
U.S. subscribers will gain access to Peacock’s ad-supported tier starting in early 2027 under an expanded NBCUniversal deal.
Alphabet’s YouTube and NBCUniversal have forged an expanded content partnership that will incorporate the ad-supported Peacock Premium streaming tier into U.S. YouTube Premium subscriptions at no extra cost beginning in early 2027.
The inclusion provides a tangible value addition for subscribers, as standalone access to Peacock Premium currently costs $11 per month or $110 per year. Users seeking an ad-free experience will be provided an upgrade option to Peacock Premium Plus. The perk arrives following price adjustments for YouTube Premium in the U.S. in June, where monthly rates rose to $16 for individual accounts and $27 for family plans.
Ahead of the full bundle integration, consumers will be able to purchase Peacock Premium as a standalone subscription add-on via YouTube Primetime Channels starting this summer. NBCUniversal added Peacock Premium Plus to the Primetime Channels storefront last month.
The broader collaboration between YouTube and NBCUniversal extends beyond on-demand entertainment. Certain live sports broadcasts are set to stream on the NBC Sports YouTube channel. Internationally, the companies are developing joint subscription packages featuring Universal+ and Hayu to expand their footprint across foreign markets.
The agreement comes during a transitional period for NBCUniversal. Its parent company, Comcast, is preparing a corporate restructuring to spin off its cable television networks and digital properties into an independent company. Simultaneously, Peacock recently turned its first quarterly profit six years after launching, having previously established distribution alliances with platforms including Apple TV.
Media distributors are increasingly leveraging bundled offerings to curb subscriber churn amid market saturation, according to media industry analysis.
