Mirae Asset Prepares Digital Hub for Tokenized Assets and Stablecoins in South Korea

South Korean financial group Mirae Asset is moving to position a domestic cryptocurrency exchange infrastructure as a strategic operational hub for tokenized real-world assets, stablecoins, and institutional digital finance services, according to local industry reports.
The plan marks a significant convergence between traditional capital markets and digital asset infrastructure in South Korea, where major brokerages are positioning themselves for the formal legalization of security token offerings. By leveraging a regulated exchange environment, Mirae Asset aims to build an integrated platform capable of issuing, trading, and settling asset-backed tokens alongside fiat-linked digital instruments.
South Korea’s financial regulators, led by the Financial Services Commission, have gradually established regulatory pathways to integrate blockchain-based securities into the existing Capital Markets Act. Under this framework, electronic securities issued via distributed ledger technology are recognized as legal security tokens, opening the door for financial institutions to fractionalize traditionally illiquid assets such as commercial real estate, private debt, fine art, and infrastructure projects.
The strategic focus on stablecoins and tokenized real-world assets reflects a broader global movement among tier-one financial institutions. Global asset managers, including BlackRock and Franklin Templeton, have actively launched tokenized money market funds and treasury products on public and permissioned blockchains, demonstrating significant institutional demand for on-chain liquidity and settlement efficiency.
For Mirae Asset, which manages over $500 billion in global assets across investment banking, asset management, and insurance operations, establishing a dedicated exchange hub provides critical technical and compliance advantages. Dedicated crypto exchange architecture offers existing know-your-customer protocols, anti-money laundering frameworks, and high-frequency matching engines tailored for high-volume digital asset trading.
The deployment of stablecoin infrastructure within the hub is expected to facilitate seamless transaction settlement, reducing reliance on conventional clearing systems and lowering cross-border settlement latency for institutional investors operating within the South Korean market ecosystem.
