Gamescom 2026 Opening Night Live: Schedule, Streams, and Key Game Reveals

How to watch Opening Night Live and what games are confirmed for the showcase

A two-hour broadcast on August 25 will launch Gamescom 2026, anchored by the traditional Opening Night Live showcase set for 2PM ET. Coverage begins with a 30-minute pre-show airing right before the main presentation.

Viewers will not need to travel to Cologne, Germany to follow the proceedings in person. The stream can be watched directly below or through official channels on YouTube and Twitch, alongside an ONL liveblog covering all real-time updates.

Geoff Keighley, creator of The Game Awards and Summer Game Fest, returns to host the presentation. While ONL generally delivers fewer major reveal announcements than Keighley’s other annual productions, the broadcast consistently features key reveals and unexpected updates.

Gamescom stands as the world’s largest gaming event by physical footprint and attendance, drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors annually to trade halls in North Rhine-Westphalia. While Summer Game Fest serves as an early-summer preview hub, Opening Night Live functions as Europe’s central promotional window for games slated for late-year launches and major upcoming franchise expansions.

Organizers have already locked in several high-profile titles for the presentation, including a new preview of Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, a narrative trailer for Gears of War: E-Day, updated footage of Silent Hill: Townfall, and the debut reveal of the The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past expansion.

The lineup will also feature fresh updates for Valor Mortis (the first-person Soulslike title from the team behind the Ghostrunner series), Pony Island 2 (directed by Inscryption creator Daniel Mullins), Path of Exile 2, Monster Hunter Outlanders, Metro 2039, and an unannounced grand strategy title from Paradox Interactive. Additionally, a launch date for FromSoftware’s Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, The Duskbloods, could surface following the conclusion of its weekend network test.

Beyond the opening ceremony, Xbox plans to broadcast extensive gameplay demonstrations across YouTube—holding dedicated streams on August 26 and August 27—and Twitch. CD Projekt Red will host multi-hour broadcasts beginning August 26, featuring “game previews, special guests, interviews, behind-the-scenes stories and much more.”

Additional digital showcases will continue through the week, starting August 26 at 1PM ET with the Future Games Show, which is scheduled to highlight more than 40 games and debut 13 world premieres. Mid-week coverage concludes on August 27 at 2PM, when independent developers take center stage during the dedicated Awesome Indies show.
