Disney Partners With TikTok to Stream Creator Short Videos on Disney+
Creators will gain access to Marvel, Star Wars, and Pixar assets for vertical videos hosted on Disney+.
Walt Disney Co. has partnered with TikTok to bring fan-generated vertical videos directly to the Disney+ streaming app, granting select social media creators access to official digital assets from franchises including Marvel, Star Wars, and Pixar.
The pilot program, launching initially in the United States in the coming months, will allow approved creators to utilize a library spanning hundreds of Disney films and television series. Videos selected for the program will be distributed simultaneously across TikTok and within Disney+’s dedicated “Verts” vertical feed, which debuted in March.
The deal aims to tap into massive social media traffic driving entertainment discovery. Internal metrics released by Disney show an average of 6.5 million film and television posts were shared daily on TikTok last year, while half of survey respondents indicated TikTok content influenced their decision to watch a movie or show.
To support the rollout, the companies are launching the Disney Creator Ambassador Program, an initiative offering selected creators increased platform visibility, access to exclusive corporate events, and performance rewards. Disney said in a statement that content will be refreshed regularly to foster subscriber engagement around current fan conversations.
The integration comes as traditional media companies increasingly rely on short-form video feeds and creator partnerships to boost subscriber engagement and compete for screen time, alongside reported considerations by Disney regarding a potential free, ad-supported tier for Disney+.
