Lumines Remastered Arrives on iOS and Android with Mobile Controls and Free Trial

Enhance and publisher Sound Games have launched Lumines Remastered on iOS and Android smartphones and tablets, bringing the rhythm-infused block-puzzle title to mobile platforms six years after its console and PC debut.

The mobile port introduces a free-to-try model, allowing players to access initial levels and a time attack mode at no cost. Unlocking the complete game carries a launch price of $8, which will eventually shift to a standard $10 fee. That price point places the mobile release below the $15 cost of the title on PC, home consoles, and Amazon Luna.

First released in 2004 as a flagship title for Sony’s PlayStation Portable (PSP), Lumines was created by industry veteran Tetsuya Mizuguchi. The design revolves around synesthesia—the interplay between audio and visual stimuli. Players drop 2×2 blocks composed of two colors, organizing them into solid color quadrilaterals while a vertical line, known as the timeline, sweeps across the playing field to clear completed blocks in sync with the musical tempo.

The updated mobile conversion by Enhance incorporates multiple touch-screen control schemes alongside native support for external Bluetooth gamepads. Over 40 distinct levels are included, featuring a soundtrack centered on house, trance, and techno tracks that directly govern the speed of the timeline and gameplay rhythm.

Beyond single-player progression and global online leaderboards, the mobile edition retains local head-to-head multiplayer, enabling two players to compete against each other on a shared device screen.

The launch coincides with the wider digital release of the game’s original soundtrack across music streaming services and digital storefronts. It follows the studio’s recent release of Lumines Arise late last year, which expanded upon the visual identity established in 2018’s Tetris Effect.
