Kuwaiti Security Forces Re-Capture Prison Escapees in Rapid Multi-Agency Operation
A coordinated air and ground search led to the recovery of firearms and the arrest of three fugitives in the desert.

Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior neutralized a high-profile security breach on Tuesday, apprehending three escaped inmates within 24 hours of their flight from a correctional facility. The recovery operation, characterized by a rapid mobilization of specialized units, concluded in the desert region of Barr al-Liyah.
The General Department of Criminal Investigation led the tactical response, supported by the Special Security Forces and the Police Aviation Wing. According to a statement from the Ministry, the coordinated air and ground search allowed authorities to track the fugitives to a remote location where they were taken into custody without further incident.
Operational units recovered two firearms during the arrest, prompting security personnel to implement standard engagement protocols to secure the site. The Ministry subsequently released video footage via social media documenting the surveillance and final apprehension of the three individuals.
In response to the initial breach, Interior Minister Sheikh Fahd Yousef Saud Al-Sabah ordered the immediate formation of an investigative committee. The panel is tasked with identifying the systemic failures that allowed the inmates to exit the correctional institution and reviewing current security infrastructure.
The three detainees have been returned to the relevant authorities for legal processing. The swift conclusion of the search highlights the operational readiness of Kuwait’s integrated security branches, which utilized aerial reconnaissance to narrow the search perimeter in the country’s open terrain.
