GTA 6 Trailer Sparks $15M Crypto Bet on Fake Dacity Coin
Unauthorized Solana traders are using leaked GTA 6 mission details to gamble millions on a fictional in-game currency.

A fleeting reference to a fictional cryptocurrency in the Grand Theft Auto 6 launch trailer has triggered a $15 million speculative bubble on the Solana blockchain. Unaffiliated traders minted a real-world token bearing the same name, attempting to front-run the release of one of the most anticipated video games in history.
The financial wager rests entirely on how prominently Rockstar Games features its invented “Dacity Coin” when GTA 6 ships this November. Buyers are treating the unauthorized Solana asset as a proxy bet on the game’s narrative design.
Data from trading platform Pump.fun shows one participant sitting on $285,000 in unrealized gains from a $20,000 position. The peak market capitalization hit $15 million before stabilizing, according to Decrypt. These figures represent paper wealth tied to a digital asset that shares no code, corporate relationship, or licensing agreement with Rockstar or its parent company, Take-Two Interactive.
This behavior mirrors the broader meme coin economy, where traders routinely capitalize on viral cultural moments by launching tokens within minutes of a news event. The difference here is the catalyst: a AAA video game franchise rather than a social media post or political gaffe.
The speculation accelerated after a notorious Rockstar hacker known as “Cyberleek” published leaked gameplay more than a week ago, according to Decrypt. The footage allegedly depicts protagonist Lucia executing a parachute stunt specifically designed to attract investment into Dacity Coin. A screenshot from the leak includes dialogue instructing her to “give them a show” so targets will buy the token “before they even know what it is.”
The official trailer corroborated parts of the leak visually, showing a wing walker detonating a smoke bomb on an aircraft plastered with Dacity Coin branding. The in-game wiki links the currency to a fictional corporate entity called AudaCity.
Traders are split on whether the mechanic will be confined to isolated side missions or integrated into the core economy. Pseudonymous trader Nicstho told Decrypt the baseline expectation involves Lucia promoting the coin for cash, while the maximum bullish scenario envisions it functioning as spendable currency across single-player and multiplayer modes.
Historical precedent drives the latter theory. Grand Theft Auto V featured a fully functional stock market where players manipulated share prices through mission choices to generate in-game wealth. Entire investment guides were built around exploiting this system. Pseudonymous trader Corey Ape told Decrypt he expects GTA 6 to allow similar trading mechanics for the new token, though he acknowledged this assessment relies on instinct rather than confirmed details.
Rockstar did not respond to Decrypt’s request for comment regarding the in-game asset or the external crypto market it spawned.
Nicstho characterized the studio’s inclusion of a satirical meme coin as a deliberate move to mock the very crypto traders now buying the unauthorized Solana derivative. “They just want to mog memecoin traders,” he told Decrypt.
Take-Two Interactive has previously demonstrated zero tolerance for intellectual property exploitation. In 2022, the publisher aggressively pursued legal action following the massive September data breach attributed to Cyberleek, which exposed early development builds and source code. The current leak cycle and resulting financial speculation add another layer of uncontrolled brand exposure ahead of the November launch window.
