Everton Joins Race for Wolfsburg Winger Patrick Wimmer Amid £13m Valuation

Everton has reportedly entered the race to sign Austrian right-winger Patrick Wimmer from Bundesliga club Wolfsburg, according to journalist Ekrem Konur. The move comes as the Merseyside side looks to strengthen its attacking options under David Moyes this winter.

Wimmer’s Rise in Germany

Patrick Wimmer, 24, began his career in Austria at SC Sitzenberg before moving to Austria Vienna, where he made his mark in youth and senior levels. In January 2022, Wimmer joined Wolfsburg from Arminia Bielefeld, helping the club maintain its Bundesliga status despite several relegation battles.

Since arriving in the German top flight, Wimmer has contributed 13 goals and 18 assists, establishing himself as one of Wolfsburg’s most dynamic attacking players. This season alone, he has added nine goal contributions in 17 appearances across all competitions, highlighting his consistency and creativity on the right flank.

Everton’s Reinforcement Plans

Everton currently relies on wingers such as Dwight McNeil, Tyler Dibling, Illiman Ndiaye, and academy graduate Harrison Armstrong. While Jack Grealish has been deployed on the left, Moyes is seeking additional depth and competition. Wimmer’s potential arrival would provide tactical flexibility and a proven attacking threat for the Toffees.

Transfer Outlook

Wolfsburg is reportedly open to a January departure for Wimmer, with a fee around £13 million considered sufficient for a permanent transfer. However, Everton faces stiff competition from clubs including Fulham, Fiorentina, and Lazio, all monitoring the Austrian’s situation.

Former Wolfsburg manager Ralph Hasenhüttl described Wimmer as “incredibly dynamic” following a key brace that secured a 2-1 win over Werder Bremen last season, underscoring his impact in high-pressure matches.
