Arsenal is reportedly poised to join Manchester City and Liverpool in the pursuit of Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, according to The Mirror.

The North London club has enjoyed a strong Premier League season, currently holding a six-point lead over Manchester City and Aston Villa at the top of the table.

While the Gunners continue their title push, The Mirror suggests they are considering an approach for Guehi, whose contract is set to expire on June 30.

Uncertainty surrounds whether Arsenal will make a January bid or opt for a free transfer in the summer. Manchester City, however, appears to be leading the race, preparing a January move.

Crystal Palace is expected to demand £40 million for the 25-year-old, despite his contract having less than six months remaining.

Summer Priority

Arsenal boasts one of the Premier League’s top central defensive pairings in William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes. While both have faced injuries this season, they are currently fully fit and performing well.

The club also has backup options including Piero Hincapie, Jurrien Timber, Ben White, Riccardo Calafiori, and Cristhian Mosquera. Calafiori and Mosquera are currently injured but are expected to return soon.

The immediate need for another center-back does not seem apparent. Guehi himself might reconsider a move to the Gunners, where he could find himself a regular substitute towards the end of the season.

With the World Cup approaching next summer, the English defender would likely prioritize consistent game time to secure national team selection.

This scenario could give Manchester City an advantage. The Citizens are currently without injured defenders Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias, potentially offering Guehi a guaranteed starting position in central defense.

Separately, respected journalist David Ornstein reported that Arsenal has contacted Guehi’s representatives, likely regarding a summer transfer. Liverpool is reportedly exploring a similar deal for the former Chelsea player.

Considering these factors, Manchester City emerges as the clear favorite to sign Guehi this winter.
