LONDON — Chelsea have “intensified their search for attacking reinforcements” this summer, identifying Bologna winger Jonathan Rowe as “a key target” to bolster their squad depth ahead of the new season.

According to a report from Sports View, the Premier League club has placed the young English winger high on their “shortlist”, though no official bid has been submitted yet.

Rowe, who has “London roots”, has enjoyed a rapid rise after developing through the youth ranks at Norwich City. Following “a brief spell at Marseille”, the winger has “settled well in Italy” with Serie A side Bologna. During the last campaign, he registered eight goals and four assists in 43 appearances across all competitions.

The 21-year-old has also demonstrated an ability to perform in high-pressure moments. He secured a “dramatic 91st-minute winner against Napoli” in domestic play and scored against Aston Villa during Bologna’s European knockout run.

### Transfer Valuation and Market Context

Bologna remains in a strong negotiating position. Rowe is under contract with the Italian club until June 2029, meaning they are “under no immediate pressure to sell”. Reports indicate that Chelsea would likely need to offer around €40 million to secure his signature.

The pursuit of Rowe aligns with Chelsea’s broader summer plans. The club is also considering other options, with “Crysencio Summerville” also under consideration. Additionally, reports of plans to “sanction Alejandro Garnacho’s departure” highlight that an attacking reshuffle is on the agenda.

### Background: Chelsea’s Recruitment Strategy

Since the takeover by Clearlake Capital and Todd Boehly in 2022, Chelsea has consistently pursued a “recruitment strategy” focused on securing young, high-potential talent from across Europe. The club has frequently targeted players under the age of 23, offering long-term contracts to spread amortization costs and build a squad for the future.

Bologna has established itself as a competitive force in Serie A, qualifying for European competition and developing young talents who attract significant interest from Premier League clubs.
