TV Time Co-Founder Launches Bingers App to Replace Shuttered Entertainment Tracker
Antonio Pinto debuts Bingers on iOS and Android to replace TV Time following Whip Media's AI pivot.
Antonio Pinto, a co-founder of defunct entertainment tracker TV Time, has launched a replacement platform named Bingers on iOS and Android, seeking to capture millions of displaced users following Whip Media’s decision to shutter the previous app.
To avoid the severe cloud infrastructure overhead that contributed to TV Time’s demise, Bingers offloads heavy processing tasks—such as viewing calendars and user watchlists—directly onto users’ smartphones. The architectural redesign comes after Whip Media officially pulled TV Time from app stores on July 15, 2026, pivoting its resources toward artificial intelligence development despite the app accumulating more than 26.4 million lifetime downloads.
“I believe TV Time was a diamond in the rough that kind of lost its way,” Pinto told TechCrunch. “I was stunned to see that the community stayed so active and so big even after the app was neglected for years and received no updates. To me, that was the sign that TV Time had something unique that no other social platform has.”
The closure triggered widespread pushback from the app’s community, with over 28,000 users signing a petition requesting Whip Media preserve the service through subscriptions or crowdfunding options. Whip Media proceeded with the shutdown as scheduled, leaving an active user base looking for alternative tracking and discussion hubs.
Bingers incorporates a three-part structure combining show and movie tracking, content discovery tools, and episode-specific community features. The platform allows users to build profiles, post photos and GIFs, leave episode comments, vote on favorite characters, and express reactions via emojis. To facilitate user transition, the app supports re-uploading personal archives exported via TV Time’s GDPR-compliant tool prior to its removal.

Monetization for Bingers will initially rely on direct voluntary contributions from users to offset remaining server infrastructure costs. Pinto indicated that future revenue plans include an in-person, real-life community business model, though specific details have not been publicly disclosed.
