Tottenham Hotspur Prepare £85 Million Bid for Bournemouth Forward Eli Junior Kroupi
Spurs ready £85m offer for record-breaking teenage forward amid interest from Arsenal and Barcelona.

Tottenham Hotspur are preparing a formal £85 million offer to sign Bournemouth centre-forward Eli Junior Kroupi, according to a report from Football Insider. The North London club is seeking to move ahead of several European heavyweights in the race for the prolific young striker.
Kroupi, who has experienced a rapid ascent in senior football, has become a primary target for Spurs following a record-breaking debut season in England. Despite the substantial valuation, Bournemouth are reportedly adamant about retaining the forward at the Vitality Stadium and are expected to demand a fee significantly higher than the proposed £85 million.
Record-Breaking Rise
The 20-year-old forward arrived in the Premier League following a distinguished youth career at Lorient. During his time in France, he broke the record previously held by Mateo Guendouzi to become the youngest debutant in the history of Lorient, appearing at 16 years and 345 days during a fixture against Strasbourg.
Kroupi continued to set milestones by surpassing Andre Ayew as the club’s youngest-ever goalscorer after finding the net against FC Nantes in September 2023. He also established himself as the youngest player in Ligue 1 to score a brace since 1974.
His transition to English football saw him net 13 goals in his debut campaign. This tally surpassed the teenage scoring records of Robbie Keane (1999-00) and Robbie Fowler (1993-94), making him the highest-scoring teenager in a debut season for Bournemouth.
Transfer Stance and Competition
Transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke, speaking on the Football Insider Transfer Insider podcast, indicated that while Tottenham Hotspur are willing to commit to a massive fee, a deal remains difficult to conclude. Bournemouth are under no immediate financial pressure to sell, and the player is currently under contract until 2030.
The Cherries are reportedly keen to keep their core squad intact under the leadership of new manager Marco Rose. Furthermore, Spurs are not the only suitors; the forward has attracted interest from Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, and Barcelona.
O’Rourke noted that while Tottenham have moved aggressively to lead the pursuit, Bournemouth’s long-term contract security provides them with significant leverage in any negotiations.
About Lorient
FC Lorient, the club where Eli Junior Kroupi developed, is based in Brittany, France. The club’s academy, known as the Centre de Formation de l’Espace FCL, has a reputation for producing high-level technical talent. Lorient has historically served as a springboard for players who eventually move to the Premier League and other top European divisions.
Premier League Teenage Records
The records surpassed by Kroupi—previously held by Robbie Keane and Robbie Fowler—are considered significant benchmarks in English football. Robbie Fowler’s 1993-94 season at Liverpool and Robbie Keane’s 1999-00 campaign at Coventry City are frequently cited as two of the most impactful debut seasons by teenage strikers in the modern era of the top flight.
