Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly leading the pursuit of Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.

The North London club currently fields Guglielmo Vicario as its primary goalkeeper, with Antonin Kinsky acquired last winter to serve as a backup. Brandon Austin holds the third-choice position.

Vicario has recently faced scrutiny for inconsistent performances and several high-profile errors. Kinsky, meanwhile, has not managed to challenge Vicario for the starting role.

Fichajes indicates that Thomas Frank is keen on securing a new goalkeeper to challenge for the No.1 position, and Tottenham has reportedly identified Lunin as a serious contender.

The Ukrainian international has seen limited playing time at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu and is reportedly open to a move this year in pursuit of regular first-team football and career development.

Still under contract until 2030, the 26-year-old’s situation places Los Blancos in a strong negotiating position. Real Madrid has reportedly set a £22 million asking price for their second-choice goalkeeper.

Tottenham currently leads the chase for Lunin’s signature. Nottingham Forest and Brighton & Hove Albion are also considered strong contenders to acquire the goalkeeper.

Lunin to Tottenham

The report further claims Manchester United pursued Lunin last summer before ultimately signing Senne Lammens. It remains uncertain if the Red Devils will rekindle their interest in the Real Madrid player.

During Thibaut Courtois’ injury absence, Lunin featured regularly under Carlo Ancelotti in previous seasons, contributing to his side’s Champions League and La Liga triumphs.

Standing at 6ft 3in, the goalkeeper is still young and possesses significant potential for development, suggesting he could be a shrewd acquisition for the Lilywhites.

The coming months will reveal whether the North London club can successfully attract the Ukrainian international from the Spanish capital, either in the January transfer window or next summer.

Meanwhile, Tottenham is set to face Aston Villa in the FA Cup this weekend, following a disappointing Premier League defeat against AFC Bournemouth.
