Stark County Hospital Births: 26 Babies Born Sept. 20-26

Canton families led the 26 deliveries recorded across Aultman and Cleveland Clinic Mercy campuses during the final full week of September 2026.

Twenty-six babies were delivered across Stark County’s two primary maternity centers during the week of Sept. 20 through Sept. 26, 2026, according to records released by Aultman Hospital and Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital.

Canton served as the home base for the majority of the new parents. Of the 26 births recorded across both campuses, 14 involved at least one parent residing in Canton, reinforcing the city’s position as the demographic center of gravity for obstetric care in northeastern Ohio.

The remaining families traveled from surrounding communities including Alliance, Massillon, North Canton, Minerva, Hartville, Canal Fulton, Beloit and Hanoverton. The geographic spread illustrates the regional draw of both facilities, pulling expectant parents from rural townships and neighboring municipalities throughout Stark and Columbiana counties.

Aultman Hospital reported 14 deliveries over the seven-day period. The busiest day on the Aultman labor and delivery ward was Sept. 23, when three babies were born. Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital logged 12 births, with its highest volume occurring on the same date, recording four deliveries on Sept. 23.

Gender distribution across the two hospitals leaned slightly toward boys. Fourteen boys and 12 girls were born countywide during the tracked week. Aultman saw an even split with seven boys and seven girls, while Mercy Hospital delivered seven boys and five girls.

Both institutions operate under distinct corporate structures despite their shared geography. Aultman Hospital functions as an independent, nonprofit community health system anchored in Canton since 1892. Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital, formerly known simply as Mercy Medical Center, integrated into the Cleveland Clinic health system in 2021, a transition that expanded its specialty care network while maintaining local maternity operations.

For residents tracking family arrivals in the region, the latest confirmed birth occurred on Sept. 26 at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital, where Georganne and Levi Cooper of Hanoverton welcomed a boy.
