Pinterest Turns Nvidia Blackwell Into a Room-Redesign Shopping Engine
Nvidia-powered AI lets Pinterest users redesign rooms with shoppable products

Pinterest has begun beta testing Restyle, a generative AI tool that lets users in the United States and Canada photograph a physical space in their home and modify it with text prompts. The feature entered beta testing on Thursday and can redesign an entire room in styles including industrial, bohemian, whimsical, or “dopamine” decor.
The tool can insert home decor items, wall art, and furniture into a room photo, including products users have previously saved to their personal Pinterest boards. Restyle can also change paint colors, adjust room lighting, and erase existing objects.

Restyle is built on an upgraded technical foundation that combines Nvidia Blackwell graphics processing units (GPUs), Nvidia Dynamo software libraries, open-source models, and custom-built technology. Pinterest has integrated those components into its proprietary AI infrastructure, which the company calls “Pinterest Intelligence.”
Nvidia’s Blackwell architecture, unveiled earlier this year, is engineered to handle massive generative AI workloads and speed up model inference. Pinterest plans to use the system to scale its digital assistant’s capacity to interpret complex visual search queries and turn browsing behavior into high-intent shopping signals.
Founded in 2009 and listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 2019, Pinterest now has more than 520 million monthly active users worldwide. The San Francisco-based visual discovery platform has spent a decade moving from a passive digital scrapbook toward an active e-commerce pipeline, while facing the challenge of connecting an image saved for inspiration with an eventual purchase.
Allowing users to visualize products inside their actual living spaces is intended to help Pinterest drive higher conversion rates for retail advertisers. Pinterest first teased Restyle during “Pinterest Presents,” its annual global advertiser summit, where the company also introduced new visual search ads and app promotion formats to attract larger budgets from retail brands.
Pinterest’s approach enters a market that includes Google Lens, which Google has long used to support visual shopping, and Amazon’s expanded “View in Your Room” mobile AR tools. In 2022, Swedish furniture retailer IKEA launched its “Kreativ” design experience, which similarly uses AI to let users delete existing furniture from room photos and replace it with digital IKEA models.
Restyle remains limited to an early preview group in North America. Pinterest plans to begin a broader public rollout of the feature next month.
