Tottenham Prepare Move for Manchester City’s Omar Marmoush in Attacking Reshuffle

Roberto de Zerbi eyes versatile Egyptian forward to strengthen Europa League winners.

Tottenham Hotspur are preparing to launch a formal bid for Manchester City winger Omar Marmoush as manager Roberto de Zerbi pivots his recruitment strategy toward the final third. The north London club has identified the Egyptian international as a primary target to strengthen an attack that recently secured the 2024-25 Europa League title.

According to reports from journalist Nicolo Schira, Tottenham could initiate a move for the 27-year-old in the coming days. Marmoush is reportedly considering a departure from the Etihad Stadium in search of more consistent playing time after struggling to secure a regular starting role last season.

The interest follows a period of heavy investment in the Tottenham backline. After conceding 57 goals in the Premier League last season, the club prioritized defensive reinforcements, securing Andy Robertson from Liverpool and Marcos Senesi from Bournemouth on free transfers. They also completed the signing of Jan-Paul Van Hecke from Brighton & Hove Albion, reuniting the defender with De Zerbi.

With the defensive foundation established, the club’s focus has shifted to versatile attacking options. Marmoush fits the profile currently favored by the Spurs recruitment team, which has also been linked with Manchester City’s Savinho and Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo. Valued at approximately £43m, Marmoush offers the tactical flexibility to operate as a centre-forward, a number 10, or on either flank.

De Zerbi is said to be a long-term admirer of the forward, who rose to prominence as one of Europe’s most productive attackers during his tenure at Frankfurt. Club officials believe Marmoush can rediscover that clinical form under De Zerbi’s system, providing both a goalscoring threat and creative depth.

Tottenham’s ambitious summer transfer window continues to expand beyond the frontline. The club remains active in the market for midfield reinforcements, with West Ham United’s Mateus Fernandes and Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali among the names currently under consideration as the club prepares for its upcoming domestic and European campaigns.
