Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 Sets October Premiere With New Night City Mercenaries
Netflix confirms October 20 release date for the 10-episode anime sequel featuring a new cast of mercenaries.
Japanese animation house Studio Trigger will co-animate Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 with a darker and grimier visual direction than its predecessor, Netflix and CD Projekt Red confirmed. The 10-episode standalone series is scheduled to debut October 20.
An entirely new crew of mercenaries, netrunners, and an aspiring filmmaker will navigate Night City’s brutal underworld in the fresh story arc. Director Kai Ikarashi, promoted from storyboard artist and animation director on the original 2022 release, leads the production team.
Showrunner and producer Bartosz Sztybor returns alongside veteran writer Masahiko Otsuka and lead character designer Ichigo Kanno to oversee narrative continuity for the new installment.
The original series triggered a dramatic surge in Cyberpunk 2077 player numbers on Steam after its release, a commercial revival that helped stabilize the gaming franchise and spurred CD Projekt Red to greenlight an upcoming full video game sequel alongside expanding media adaptations.
