Manchester United Enquire Over Real Madrid Midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni Amid Rodri Pursuit

Manchester United have made initial enquiries over a potential move for Real Madrid midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni, according to reports by Samuel Luckhurst in The Sun, as the English club look to reshape their central midfield this summer.
The move comes as Real Madrid explore a target of their own in Manchester City midfielder Rodri. Despite having a verbal agreement in place for a contract extension with Tchouaméni, the Spanish champions are now open to sanctioning a sale to help accommodate and fund their pursuit of the Premier League star.
United remain eager to test Madrid’s resolve despite the player’s pending extension agreement. Tchouaméni, 26, has two years remaining on his current deal in Madrid. Although his market value is listed at £59 million on Transfermarkt, Real Madrid are anticipated to demand a fee above that baseline if serious negotiations develop.
For Manchester United manager Michael Carrick, Tchouaméni offers a specialized defensive presence distinct from existing midfield options such as Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans. Standing 6ft 2in, the French international provides robust physical coverage in central areas, combined with proven distribution efficiency in high-pressure matches.
During the recent domestic campaign, Tchouaméni was a near-constant fixture for Madrid, missing just five of the club’s 38 La Liga fixtures. He registered a 91.5% pass completion rate and created 25 chance opportunities while performing primary defensive shielding duties.
Tchouaméni arrived at Real Madrid from AS Monaco in 2022 and has since recorded 195 appearances for the club. His domestic consistency has mirrored his international standing with France, where he won the UEFA Nations League and featured in Didier Deschamps’s squad during Les Bleus’ semi-final run at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
