Amazon Merges Luna Cloud Gaming Directly into Prime Video Interface
Fire TV users in the US and UK can now play cloud games directly inside the Prime Video app
Amazon has folded its Luna cloud gaming service directly into the Prime Video application, allowing subscribers to launch video games alongside movies and television series on Fire TV devices across the United States and the United Kingdom.
Starting Thursday, Prime Video users in these launch markets can navigate to a newly added “Games” tab. The available catalog spans major third-party releases like Hogwarts Legacy, EA Sports FC 26, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, as well as digital adaptations like Clue and Taboo. The selection also features original titles produced by Amazon Game Studios, such as Masters of the Universe: Legends Unite and the Courtroom Chaos collection.
To broaden its appeal beyond traditional video game players, the service eliminates the requirement for dedicated gaming consoles or high-end PCs. Users can navigate titles on their screens using standard Bluetooth gamepads or by turning their mobile phones into controllers through a companion application.
This convergence mirrors broader shifts across the digital streaming sector toward bundled entertainment offerings. Competitor Netflix began integrating mobile titles into its service in 2021 to enhance subscriber retention. While standalone cloud gaming platforms have historically faced distribution friction—highlighted by Google discontinuing its Stadia streaming service in 2023—media companies are increasingly embedding cloud games into established video streaming environments.
First introduced in 2020, Luna relies on Amazon Web Services remote servers to process titles and stream footage to target screens. Previously, accessing the service required operating a standalone Luna app. Positioning the catalog inside Prime Video removes software barriers and consolidates media consumption into a single application hub.
Jeff Gattis, general manager of gaming at Amazon, noted that incorporating Luna directly within Prime Video simplifies content discovery, allowing members to jump into gameplay without navigating away from their primary streaming hub. Amazon confirmed plans to refresh the content lineup monthly and expand the integration to additional hardware platforms and international markets.
