Egyptian Exchange Extends Gains Amid Divergent Investor Activity

The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) continued its upward trajectory during Tuesday’s mid-session trading, propelled by buying activity from Egyptian and foreign investors. Arab investors, however, leaned towards selling, as total turnover reached approximately EGP 2.4 billion.

Key indices displayed a mixed performance. The benchmark EGX30 edged up 0.04% to 41,120 points. Conversely, the EGX30 Capped Index saw a marginal decline of 0.01%, settling at 50,606 points. The EGX30 Total Return Index gained 0.01% to 18,682 points, while the EGX35-LV for low-volatility stocks rose 0.27% to 4,588 points.

Among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), the EGX70 Equal Weight Index advanced 0.55% to 12,920 points. The broader EGX100 Equal Weight Index climbed 0.36% to 17,096 points. The Sharia Index also increased by 0.35% to 4,431 points, and the Tamayoz Index surged 0.83% to 21,132 points.

This mid-session activity reflects sustained buying across various sectors, with a notable divergence in investor behavior between Arab participants and their Egyptian and foreign counterparts, illustrating the market’s dynamic nature during the day’s trading.

Egyptian Exchange Opens Tuesday with Broad Gains

The Egyptian Exchange recorded a collective positive performance at the start of Tuesday’s trading session on December 23, 2025, with a clear rise across all indices.

The main EGX30 index jumped 0.54% to 41,323.07 points. The EGX33 Sharia Index also climbed 0.27%, reaching 4,428.63 points.

For small and medium-cap equities, the EGX70 Equal Weight Index rose 0.25% to 12,881.79 points. The broader EGX100 Index posted gains of 0.27%, registering 17,081 points.

Additionally, the EGX35 Low Volatility Index advanced 0.35% to close at 4,592.42 points. The EGX Total Return Index increased 0.61% to 18,796.22 points, and the EGX30 Capped Index recorded a 0.36% rise, reaching 50,792.52 points.
