Egypt and France Deepen Research Ties with New Postdoctoral Program
The 12th call for applications opens, offering Egyptian researchers six months of training in French labs across priority scientific and applied fields.

The Science, Technology & Innovation Funding Authority (STDF) and the French Embassy in Cairo announced the 12th call for applications for the Postdoctoral Research Program. This program offers practical training opportunities inside French research laboratories. It aims to enhance scientific cooperation between Egypt and France. Priority scientific and applied fields include Energy, Agriculture, Health and Medical Research (for research purposes only), Earth and Space Sciences, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Engineering Sciences, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Data Science, Communication Technologies, Biotechnology, and Nanotechnology.
The program offers a six-month residency. It covers travel, accommodation, and medical insurance costs. This enables Egyptian researchers to access advanced research expertise within French institutions.
Applicants must meet several criteria. They must hold Egyptian nationality. They need a PhD degree obtained within ten years from the application closing date. The applicant’s age must not exceed 45 years at the application deadline. Proficiency in French or English is required, matching the specific research project’s needs. Applicants must not have previously received a travel grant to France from the Egyptian government. They also must not have participated in a project funded by the French government.
Dr. Walaa Sheta, CEO of the Science, Technology & Innovation Funding Authority, highlighted the Postdoctoral Research Program’s importance. He stated it represents a key initiative for building research capabilities among young Egyptian researchers. Cooperation with the French side offers a unique opportunity to work within an advanced research environment.
