Apple HomeView Smart Display Launches With Siri AI, LG Support

The new screen integrates LG and Schneider Electric hardware while bringing persistent Siri AI to a shared household interface.

Apple entered the smart display market Tuesday with the HomeView, a dedicated screen and speaker designed to serve as a centralized control hub for connected households. The device bridges the gap between mobile interfaces and stationary home automation, pulling personalized data directly from a user’s iPhone or iPad.

Unlike competitors that rely heavily on proprietary ecosystems or third-party voice platforms, the HomeView centers its interaction model around Siri AI. Users can navigate menus via touch or issue voice commands to manage daily routines, query information, or control connected hardware. Apple has historically kept Siri confined to phones, computers, and the Apple Watch; dedicating an always-on ambient display to the assistant signals a strategic shift toward persistent, room-level artificial intelligence.

Hardware interoperability extends beyond Apple’s own product lines. The HomeView integrates natively with LG smart thermostats and door locks, alongside climate control systems manufactured by Schneider Electric. Camera feeds from compatible security devices also route directly to the screen, allowing residents to monitor entry points without unlocking a phone. This cross-brand compatibility relies on the Matter protocol, the unified smart home standard Apple helped architect through the Connectivity Standards Alliance. By leaning into Matter, the HomeView avoids the walled-garden limitations that previously hindered Apple’s HomeKit ecosystem from competing effectively against Amazon Echo Show and Google Nest Hub devices.

The form factor addresses a specific gap in Apple’s hardware portfolio. While the iPad can function as a makeshift home controller when mounted, it remains fundamentally a personal computing tablet requiring manual configuration for shared use. The HomeView operates as a communal household utility, shifting its interface based on which registered family member approaches the screen. This proximity-based personalization mirrors features found in automotive digital cockpits but applies them to domestic spaces, ensuring private messages or calendar events only appear for the intended recipient.

Schneider Electric’s involvement highlights Apple’s push into professional-grade home energy management rather than just consumer gadgets. Where Amazon and Google have largely focused their smart display partnerships on retail-friendly brands, integrating commercial electrical infrastructure companies suggests the HomeView targets whole-home automation, including load balancing and HVAC optimization.

The HomeView was formally announced Tuesday morning, with initial hands-on demonstrations confirming responsive touch navigation and real-time Siri AI processing.
