Finn Jeltsch Sparks €50 Million Transfer Race Across Europe
Stuttgart Sets €50 Million Price for Rising Defender

STUTTGART, Germany — VfB Stuttgart defender Finn Jeltsch has become a high-profile target in an intense scouting race among Europe’s elite clubs, driven by the premium placed on versatile, ball-playing central defenders.
According to Italian sports outlet Tutto Juve, Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal are closely monitoring the 6-foot-2 defender’s rapid development. Bayern Munich and Juventus have also registered serious interest in the player.
Jeltsch began his development at SV Raitersaich before joining FC Nürnberg’s prestigious academy at the age of nine. Nürnberg, historically recognized for nurturing top-tier German talent, helped him progress through its youth divisions and make his first-team professional debut in the 2. Bundesliga.
His performances in Germany’s second division attracted top-flight scouts, and Stuttgart secured his services during the winter transfer window. The move brought him into a squad undergoing significant tactical evolution under head coach Sebastian Hoeneß.

Initially used as a rotational option at the MHP Arena, Jeltsch quickly established himself in the starting lineup, starting all five matches across all competitions at the beginning of the current campaign. Stuttgart has tied him to a long-term contract running through 2030, leaving the Bundesliga club under no immediate pressure to sell.
His primarily right-footed game includes comfortable distribution with both feet, allowing him to operate on the left side of a central defensive partnership. He can also cover at right-back when required, combining tactical flexibility with the athletic capacity to play in multiple defensive roles.
Scouts have highlighted Jeltsch’s recovery speed, physical strength, and composure when carrying the ball out of deep defensive zones. He favors a front-foot defensive approach, stepping up to intercept play rather than dropping deep to defend the penalty area.
That profile fits modern possession-based systems and mirrors the attributes that have driven premium transfer fees for other Bundesliga-trained defenders in recent transfer windows. Jeltsch was also a core defensive pillar for Germany’s national youth teams, featuring prominently in squads that achieved historic tournament success at youth level.
Manchester United is planning a significant restructuring of its defensive department at Old Trafford. Veteran defenders Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martínez are entering the final phases of their current contracts this season, while Dutch international Matthijs de Ligt continues to battle persistent fitness and durability issues that have limited his consistent availability.
For United’s recruitment department, Jeltsch represents a high-ceiling, long-term investment that fits the club’s updated strategy of targeting elite under-23 talent capable of anchoring the defense for the next decade.
Liverpool’s interest comes during its own defensive transition. The Merseyside club has a deep pool of central defenders, including young prospect Jeremy Jacquet, Giovanni Leoni, Joe Gomez, established leader Virgil van Dijk, and Ronald Araujo, who is currently on loan from Barcelona.
Van Dijk is entering the final chapters of his elite career, while Gomez and Leoni have struggled with recurring physical setbacks in recent months. A durable, press-resistant option like Jeltsch would provide Liverpool with succession planning alongside its younger developmental prospects.
Arsenal’s pursuit is less urgent after the Gunners signed England international Ezri Konsa during the summer transfer window, significantly reinforcing Mikel Arteta’s defensive options. With established partnerships already in place at the Emirates Stadium, any formal move for Jeltsch would likely depend on player departures from North London.
Bayern Munich has long focused its recruitment strategy on securing the brightest domestic talents within the Bundesliga, seeking to maintain domestic dominance while refreshing its aging defensive options. Juventus, meanwhile, is looking for technical, mobile defenders suited to its modernized tactical framework under its current sporting direction.
Juventus could offer a guaranteed pathway to first-team minutes, a factor that may prove highly competitive in discussions with Jeltsch’s representatives. The Italian powerhouse is competing with the three Premier League clubs and Bayern Munich for the defender.
Stuttgart officials have reportedly established a valuation of approximately €50 million (£43 million) before they will consider sanctioning a transfer. Any prospective suitor will need to present a substantial financial package to prise the young defender away from the MHP Arena during the upcoming transfer windows.
