Public Threats Lead to Arrest of Shaimaa Gamal’s Mother in Giza
Magda M arrested after claiming firearm possession and threatening individuals during a televised interview.


Magda M, 60, a housewife, was arrested by Talbiya Police Department officers in Giza. She is the mother of the late journalist Shaimaa Gamal. Her arrest came after statements she made during a televised phone interview.
Magda M’s arrest followed her public claims of possessing a licensed firearm for approximately 18 years. She specifically threatened to use this weapon against Hussein Al-Gharabli’s lawyer. Additionally, she made threats targeting one of her late daughter’s friends.
Investigations revealed Magda M maintains two residences. One address is within the Talbiya police precinct. Her other known address is located in the Imbaba area. Authorities also confirmed her involvement in five previous cases. These past accusations included charges of theft, assault, and public morals violations across the Manshiyat Al-Qanater, Maadi, and Abdeen police precincts.
