Denmark vs Wales: Kickoff time, UK TV coverage and projected lineups

Both sides seek their first Group 4 points after opening defeats.

COPENHAGEN — Denmark host Wales at Parken Stadium on Sunday, with both teams seeking their first points in Group 4 of UEFA Nations League A. Kickoff is at 5:00 p.m. BST (6:00 p.m. local time). BBC One Wales and S4C will televise the match in the United Kingdom, while BBC iPlayer and S4C Clic will carry live streams. Coverage begins at 4:30 p.m. BST.

Denmark lost their opener 3-2 to Norway despite a goal from Manchester United striker Rasmus Højlund. Wales fell 1-0 to Portugal in Lisbon, where João Félix scored the first-half winner. The defeats leave both sides at the bottom of the four-nation group.

Wales manager Craig Bellamy is without goalkeeper Karl Darlow, defender Joe Rodon and midfielder Harry Wilson. Nathan Broadhead, Rubin Colwill, Dylan Lawlor and Isaak Davies are also sidelined. Daniel James is under consideration to replace Lewis Koumas in the starting lineup against Denmark.

French referee Willy Delajod will officiate the fixture. Official team sheets are submitted to UEFA and released between 40 and 60 minutes before kickoff.

Bellamy started Danny Ward in goal against Portugal, with Neco Williams, Ben Cabango, Ben Davies and Jay Dasilva across the back. Jordan James and Ethan Ampadu anchored the midfield alongside Josh Sheehan and David Brooks; Brennan Johnson and Koumas started in attack.

Denmark head coach Brian Riemer could retain the eleven that faced Norway, with Højlund expected to lead the attack. In that match, Patrick Dorgu played in an advanced position on the right, Mikkel Damsgaard took the opposite wing and Mads Froholdt occupied central attacking midfield. Morten Hjulmand and Pierre-Emile Højbjerg formed the central midfield partnership ahead of Rasmus Kristensen, Joachim Andersen, Oliver Provstgaard and Joakim Mæhle, with Filip Jørgensen in goal.

Projected lineups:
Denmark: Filip Jørgensen; Rasmus Kristensen, Joachim Andersen, Oliver Provstgaard, Joakim Mæhle; Morten Hjulmand, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg; Patrick Dorgu, Mads Froholdt, Mikkel Damsgaard; Rasmus Højlund.
Wales: Danny Ward; Neco Williams, Ben Cabango, Ben Davies, Jay Dasilva; David Brooks, Ethan Ampadu, Josh Sheehan, Brennan Johnson; Jordan James, Daniel James.

The top two teams in each League A group advance to two-legged quarterfinals scheduled for March 2025 under the competition’s expanded format. Third-place finishers enter relegation playoffs against League B runners-up, while fourth-place teams are relegated directly to League B. Denmark are in League A for a fourth consecutive cycle, with 12 wins, five draws and eight defeats in 25 career Nations League fixtures. Wales returned to the top tier after promotion from League B in the previous cycle.

Sunday’s match will be the 12th senior international meeting between the sides. None of the previous 11 ended in a draw: Denmark won seven and Wales four. Denmark have taken the last three, most recently winning 4-0 at the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam in the round of 16 at the 2020 European Championship. They also won both 2018–19 UEFA Nations League group meetings, 2-0 in Aarhus and 2-1 in Cardiff.

The group schedule resumes in October, when Wales host Norway before playing the return fixture against Denmark three days later. Wales’ last win over Denmark came in November 2008, a 1-0 victory in an international friendly in Brøndby.
