Trump Endorses Musk’s SpaceX Share Giveaway via Mysterious ‘TRUMP ACCOUNTS’ Program
White House unveils new policy vehicle for private equity distribution to minors as Musk pledges SpaceX shares

President Donald Trump on Monday praised Elon Musk‘s pledge to give one SpaceX share to every American child, framing it as the fulfillment of a newly created “TRUMP ACCOUNTS” initiative designed to channel private equity to minors. The endorsement marks the first public explanation of a program that had not been previously detailed by the White House.
“This is exactly what was envisioned when we created TRUMP ACCOUNTS — Bringing together the GREAT PRIVATE SECTOR, Elon and so many more, to invest in our children,” Trump posted on Truth Social. The administration has not released legislative text, regulatory guidance, or an implementation timeline for the accounts.
Musk announced the giveaway Monday on X, writing: “Next year, I will give one of my SpaceX shares to every kid in America. This will be the first of many.” He did not specify how the estimated 73 million U.S. children would receive shares in a privately held company, nor how valuation, transfer restrictions, or tax consequences would be handled. SpaceX shares currently trade on secondary markets around $148.

The pledge came hours after Anthropic announced a competing model: a Public Benefit Fund seeded with 5% of its equity, rising to roughly 20% as the company’s valuation grows. The AI firm’s structure includes board discretion and defined triggers. Musk responded to Anthropic’s announcement by urging direct public distribution instead.
Fox News Digital asked Anthropic whether its fund would consider direct distributions to American families. The company did not respond. Anthropic’s fund remains a wholly owned entity; Musk’s proposal would transfer ownership directly to individuals.
Neither the White House nor Musk’s office has explained how TRUMP ACCOUNTS would function as a vehicle for the SpaceX distribution. Questions remain about custodial structures, eligibility verification, securities law compliance, and whether congressional authorization is required. The SpaceX ticker (SPCX) rose 1.3% Monday to $147.96 on secondary markets.
