Penn State vs. Michigan Week 7 TV Time Set on CBS

First-year head coaches and struggling offenses take center stage as the Nittany Lions visit Michigan Stadium for a 3:30 p.m. CBS broadcast.

CBS secured the broadcast rights for Penn State’s Week 7 road trip to Michigan, locking in a 3:30 p.m. Eastern kickoff for two Big Ten programs desperate to reverse their seasons under first-year head coaches.

The television assignment, finalized Sunday morning following Week 6 results, marks Penn State’s debut on CBS this year. The Nittany Lions have cycled through FOX, NBC, and various streaming platforms weekly since September, reflecting the conference’s expanded media inventory distributed across its current rights holders. Under the Big Ten’s seven-year media agreement that began in 2023, CBS holds a tier of Saturday afternoon selections typically reserved for matchups carrying significant national brand equity regardless of win-loss records.

Both franchises enter the game searching for footing after coaching transitions. The matchup pairs programs with new leadership trying to stabilize rosters built for previous systems, a dynamic that has produced uneven results through the first six weeks of the 2026 campaign.

Penn State arrives in Ann Arbor winless in conference play at 0-3. The Nittany Lions dropped their most recent outing during the annual White Out game at West Shore Home Field at Beaver Stadium on Oct. 10, falling to USC. Quarterback Rocco Becht attempted to orchestrate the offense against the Trojans, connecting with tight end Andrew Rappleyea for a first-quarter touchdown, while USC wide receiver Tanook Hines found the end zone twice during the second quarter. The defeat extended a skid that began once Big Ten play opened, erasing early-season momentum.

Michigan used Week 6 as a bye, providing additional preparation time for an offense that has struggled to generate consistent production. The Wolverines have eclipsed 20 points only once this season. Much of the scrutiny in Ann Arbor centers on quarterback Bryce Underwood, whose adjustment period has defined the team’s offensive ceiling. Developing a true freshman or young starter at quarterback historically requires navigating growing pains, particularly within the physical confines of Big Ten play where defensive fronts routinely pressure inexperienced passers.

Network executives rarely bypass the combined viewership draw of Penn State and Michigan, even when both teams sit outside the AP Top 25. The rivalry lacks the continuous annual frequency of some regional matchups but carries decades of historical weight. For CBS, filling the 3:30 p.m. window with recognizable blue-blood logos protects advertising rates better than pivoting to undefeated but less nationally established programs from other conferences.

Kickoff remains scheduled for 3:30 p.m. inside Michigan Stadium.
