Monaco Sets €70m Price as Liverpool Track Lamine Camara for 2027

Monaco’s €70m valuation puts Lamine Camara at the center of Liverpool’s long-term midfield planning

MONTE CARLO, Monaco — Liverpool representatives have contacted Lamine Camara’s camp to outline long-term interest in the AS Monaco midfielder. Reporting from Ben Jacobs on *The RedmenTV* places the 22-year-old Senegal international among Liverpool’s primary targets for 2027 if he remains in Monaco in the interim.

Camara joined Monaco in July 2024 from FC Metz after developing through Senegal’s Generation Foot academy. He was also named the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Young Player of the Year in 2023.

Monaco now value the midfielder at €70 million (approximately $76 million). The Ligue 1 club previously accepted a £47 million bid from Chelsea before reversing course and choosing to retain Camara, anticipating that continued domestic and European performances would increase his market value.

Liverpool’s midfield planning has been shaped by the departure of academy graduate Curtis Jones to Italian Serie A side Inter Milan. The opening in the central roster has prompted recruitment leadership, led by Fenway Sports Group Chief Executive of Football Michael Edwards and Sporting Director Richard Hughes, to monitor candidates across European leagues.

The club’s wider target board includes AS Roma midfielder Manu Koné, according to reporting from David Ornstein. The 23-year-old French international joined Roma from Bundesliga side Borussia Mönchengladbach and won a silver medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. His physical profile, ball-carrying statistics, and transition recovery metrics have kept him under active evaluation by Premier League recruitment departments.

Public attention on contract negotiations involving Argentina international Alexis Mac Allister has also influenced discussion of Liverpool’s central midfield options. Mac Allister, a 2022 FIFA World Cup winner, arrived from Brighton & Hove Albion in June 2023 for an initial transfer fee of £35 million.

Liverpool have also monitored AFC Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott. The 21-year-old English central midfielder moved from Bristol City in August 2023 for a reported £25 million fee after being named the EFL Young Player of the Season. His homegrown player status under Premier League squad registration rules and his tactical flexibility across multiple central roles are part of his profile.

Meanwhile, 17-year-old midfielder Trey Nyoni remains a featured youth prospect in Liverpool’s development system after joining from Leicester City’s academy in September 2023. The operational focus remains on securing proven multi-competition depth.

Aleksandar Stanković was another option previously explored by Liverpool’s transfer team. The 19-year-old Serbian defensive midfielder is an Inter Milan youth product currently on loan at Swiss Super League club FC Luzern. He is also the son of former Inter midfielder Dejan Stanković, and preliminary background discussions involving him took place during the early negotiations that facilitated Curtis Jones’ move to Italy.

Liverpool’s tactical model requires central midfielders who can maintain high-intensity pressing discipline, cover ground in transition, win second balls, and preserve structure under heavy fixture loads. January transfer windows historically produce lower transaction volumes because of premium valuations, while Liverpool’s early market outreach is aimed at preventing depth deficiencies from affecting competitive standings across domestic and continental campaigns.
