XRP Breakout Defies Bearish Pattern as Macro Liquidity Surge Drives Crypto Market
Token Outperforms Top Cryptos Following Daily Close Above Key Moving Averages
XRP outperformed major digital assets on Friday, clearing a technical hurdle that had capped price momentum for months. The token rose 14.21% over a 24-hour period to reach $1.40, touching an intraday high of $1.4300. The surge registered a 40.06% gain over seven days, exceeding daily advances recorded by Bitcoin and Ethereum.
A daily candle close above both the 50-day and 200-day exponential moving averages marked the first time XRP has traded above both trendlines since a bearish death cross formed. The 50-day moving average remains below the 200-day, though price recovery above both indicators frequently precedes a formal crossover.
Momentum indicators confirmed the breakout across daily timeframes. The Relative Strength Index reached 83.5, signaling overbought conditions that often precede short-term consolidation. The Average Directional Index rose to 32.4, crossing the 25 threshold technical analysts use to confirm active trend strength. The Squeeze Momentum Indicator signaled an end to price compression.
Bitcoin advanced past $72,000 before reaching an intraday peak of $79,000, supported by systemic buying across derivative markets that forced an unwind of short positions. Traders attributed part of the liquidity influx to the U.S. Treasury Department’s plan to expand long-term bond buybacks beginning Sept. 9.
Ripple completed a $275 million bond issuance as market participants evaluated proposed Securities and Exchange Commission exemption guidelines for digital assets. The U.S. Senate is slated to review the Clarity Act on Sept. 15 to address cryptocurrency regulatory frameworks.
Critical technical thresholds now frame the move above $1.40. Immediate resistance rests at the intraday high of $1.43. Secondary resistance sits at $1.60 near the upper boundary of a multi-month descending channel. Downside support levels begin at $1.34, followed by a range between $1.0754 and $1.0965, with $0.9862 acting as lower structural support.
