Chelsea and Manchester United Tracking £17m Fenerbahce Defender Archie Brown

Chelsea and Manchester United are actively monitoring Fenerbahce defender Archie Brown ahead of a potential transfer window approach, according to Turkish outlet Sabah Spor.

Fenerbahce have set a valuation of approximately £17 million for the 24-year-old, whose contract in Istanbul runs until 2028. While head coach Ismail Kartal is eager to retain the defender, Brown is reportedly keen on returning to English football, leaving the Turkish club open to a sale should their asking price be met.

Standing 6-foot-3, the left-footed defender offers physical versatility on the flank, capable of playing as a standard left-back, wing-back, or central defender. Brown scored three goals and provided three assists across 33 appearances in all competitions last season, while contributing to seven clean sheets. Beyond his defensive output, his athletic power, deep-running ability, and long-throw delivery make him a unique option for top-flight clubs adapting to modern Premier League physical demands.

At Stamford Bridge, Chelsea are assessing left-back reinforcements following the departure of Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid. The Blues currently rely on young prospect Jorrel Hato as their main natural option on the left, with Levi Colwill also capable of filling in despite naturally operating as a central defender following his recovery from a major knee injury.

Manchester United are similarly scanning the market for left-back depth as part of their broader squad management planning. Although Luke Shaw featured regularly last season, long-standing physical setbacks and a contract entering its final year next season have prompted United to seek a younger long-term alternative. With Patrick Dorgu predominantly featuring in advanced offensive positions, United view Brown as a practical addition to solidify their defensive setup.
