Juventus Target Aston Villa Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez and PSG Striker Randal Kolo Muani in Summer Transfer Push
The Italian giants are pushing for major reinforcements in goal and attack, but negotiating with Premier League and Ligue 1 clubs remains a hurdle.
Italian giants Juventus have identified two primary targets to bolster their squad, focusing their summer transfer strategy on securing a world-class goalkeeper and a clinical centre-forward. At the top of their shortlist is Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, with Paris Saint-Germain striker Randal Kolo Muani leading the search for a new offensive spearhead.
According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercato, Juventus has already made progress in its pursuit of the Argentine goalkeeper. The Turin-based club has reportedly reached an outline of an agreement on personal terms with Emiliano Martinez, who has expressed a strong willingness to test himself in Serie A. However, despite the player’s interest, a formal agreement between the two clubs remains far from finalized, as Aston Villa holds a firm stance on the valuation of their star goalkeeper.
Since joining Aston Villa from Arsenal in 2020, Martinez has established himself as one of the most commanding and vocal presences in world football. His heroics during Argentina’s 2022 World Cup triumph and his consistent performances in England have elevated his status, helping Unai Emery’s side secure qualification for the elite UEFA Champions League. Given his influence and contract status, the Premier League club is under no pressure to sell, meaning Juventus will have to present a highly lucrative offer to break the deadlock.
Recognizing that negotiations for Martinez could become protracted or ultimately collapse, Juventus has also drawn up a contingency plan. The Italian club has identified David De Gea as a potential alternative. The veteran Spanish goalkeeper, who joined Fiorentina in 2024 after a long career with Manchester United, has enjoyed a spectacular resurgence in Italy, making him an attractive and experienced backup option.
Simultaneously, Juventus is working to resolve its attacking dilemma. The club’s primary target for the centre-forward position is Randal Kolo Muani. The French international is reportedly keen on a move to Turin, but Paris Saint-Germain is refusing to lower its financial demands. PSG signed Kolo Muani from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2023 for a fee close to €95 million, and the French champions are determined to recoup a significant portion of that investment despite the striker’s mixed fortunes under manager Luis Enrique.
This dual-target strategy reflects the vision of Juventus manager Thiago Motta, who is seeking to instill greater authority, leadership, and tactical flexibility into his squad. While the players’ desires to join the Bianconeri provide a solid foundation, the ultimate success of these transfers will depend entirely on whether Juventus can meet the steep financial expectations of both Aston Villa and Paris Saint-Germain.
