Cairo Police Arrest Man for Extorting Drivers in Saqr Quraish After Viral Video
Suspect Allegedly Demanded Unofficial 'Toll' Fees from Microbus Drivers

The Ministry of Interior’s security agencies have addressed a recent social media video. The video, widely circulated, showed a microbus driver reporting an assault and verbal abuse. This incident stemmed from his refusal to pay a fee for passing through Cairo’s Saqr Quraish area.
Police investigations confirmed no prior official complaints existed regarding the incident. Officers identified and apprehended the perpetrator, a worker residing within the Al-Basateen police department’s jurisdiction. Confronted with the allegations, the man admitted to collecting money from taxi drivers. He falsely presented these charges as mandatory ‘toll’ fees for passage through the area.
